Playmates: 2004 Preview: TMNT - Turtle Copter

Nomad takes a look at another Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle vehicle from Playmates for 2004 in the form of the Turtle Copter...

If there's one thing I think is missing from Toy lines today, it's the vehicles and playsets. The Star Wars line would have been nothing without the AT-AT or Millenium Falcon. But in today's world larger toys take up too much valuable retail space and don't offer such a good ROI.

So it's great to see a line such as Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles offer a wide range of vehicles for the upcoming year, including this Turtle Copter, which I'm sure in years to come, collectors of the future will relate on what a cool toy it was.

Just a quick heads up, that this is a majorly retooled 'Rocksteady's Pogo Coptor' from the classic TMNT toy line. So like several others of the 2004 vehicles, this one has been seen before.

But I like it, since there is new blood in the line with the next generation of TMNT fans falling in love with them from the new show, it doesn't hurt to dip into the vaults and give them some cool toys. :)

Remember the old Turtle Copter??? Now that was a cool toy!!! it was fully enlcosed so the figures could actually sit inside it. Not like this one which is esentially a glorified backpack. It had cool litte surfboard wings that attached to the sides and the Turtles could hang on to them, or you could pop them off to do some sky surfing. It also had a really cool side mounted gun, with a seat for a Turtle to shoot away at foot soldiers while skimming over the ground. If this resurging trend in Turtles continues, hopefully we will see it again.
