Toy Biz: New Marvel 12" Rotocast

New 12" Marvel Rotocast figures have hit the Philippines and thanks to A-F Readers UNleashed and MOKOJIN we have details and photos..

MOKOJIN writes

12 inch ROTOCAST hulk and wolverine just came in same as the ROTK figures. there are 2 variations of hulk and wolverine the gamma poseable hulk one with open mouth and one close (note this is not the same with the hulik movie rotocast though they're about the same size) and the wolverine variations comes with unmasked which according to sales person that i've talked to is one per case. (imagine the wolverine from marvel legends in 12 inch size) both figures are cool.

Unleashed has kindly allowed us to reuse his photos (seen below) which take a look at these figures.

Hey UNLEASHED! Got a pic request. Can I see this roto hulk next to a bunch of marvel legends figures? I want to check out the scale.

the hulk looks good. too bad it's way too big to be displayed with other marvel legends... the wolverine head sculpt is not as good as the marvel legends though. I guess the best sculpt around for wolverine is the Marvel Legends sculpt.

Dude! I love these figures! The rotocast production system is one of the best things that has happened to the toy industry in years!

If they could make much more figures I would be extremely happy!

I have my 12" movie rotocast hulk next to my ML and I love the scale. He is called the "Hulk" for a reason (and no, it's not cause he takes his vitamins and says his prayers, brother).

Rotocast means they put a little bit of plastic in a mold, spin the mold really fast to fill in all the detail, and then take it out, leaving the toy hollow inside, thus feeling light. It requires less plastic though, which means less cost. A normal figure is solid plastic, not hollow.

Thanks Atomic Puppy, and I agree with your earlier comment, they should do more figures this way. Apparently it was very expensive in the past and did not yield as high a quality, but now that it has been perfected, I can't wait to see more.

At the toy store we've got a buttload of Rotocast Hulks. They're kinda pegwarmers though they don't hang on pegs. Still it's an awesome figure. The store manager had no idea what a pegwarmer was so I had to explain it to him. See, I did learn somethin hangin out here!!!

Wow, that Hulk rotocast does look awesome!
And indeed it is in near perfect scale with the ML.
I'll probably end up getting the unmasked Wolvie, IF I can find him.

I like that face sculpt. I prefer a snarling hulk to a roaring hulk. I just hope the version with his mouth open has a green tongue with green gums and so on. I’m so sick of seeing hulk products the fetcher red or pink mouth interiors.

how much would the hulk cost? i'm dead interested in the hulk... then after i get him, i'll go grab a classic spiderman and put spidey on his shoulders with the ML X-men around his two towering legs. My poor table...

I think the Hulk looks good, but I really don't see why ToyBiz would produce ANOTHER one within a year of the movie rotocast when those are still sitting on shelves.

I really don't understand ToyBiz's product strategy. There are so many figures that don't get made because they supposedly won't sell, but then they come out with 2 13" figures (with 2 variations each) that look near identical? I still think the sculpt on my movie one is much better anyway.

BUT: does wolverine have articulated knees? It looks like he might. That would be incredible

Now THAT is what the movie Hulk [i]should [/i] have looked like! I was never a big fan of the design route they chose for the movie, I much prefer the classic-retro look of this Hulk. I'm also very excited to see more figures coming in this style (large roto-cast). This particular fella might be my favorite Hulk figure to date... And I've got lots of 'em.:)
