DC Direct have released new images and information concerning their upcoming First Appearance Action Figures, due out Summer 2004...


FIRST APPEARANCE: BATMAN ACTION FIGURE
Advance-solicited; in stores June 30, 2004. Adopting a ghastly, bat-like costume designed to inspire fear in the hearts of the “weak, cowardly” criminal element of Gotham City, Bruce Wayne burst onto the comics scene as Batman in 1939’s DETECTIVE COMICS #27! The FIRST APPEARANCE: BATMAN ACTION FIGURE measures approximately 6 1/2" tall and features multiple points of articulation. It includes a base and a mini reproduction of the comic in which the character first appeared, and is packaged in a 4-color deluxe blister.


FIRST APPEARANCE: THE FLASH ACTION FIGURE
Advance-solicited; in stores June 30, 2004. Speedster Jay Garrick — the original Flash — first donned his legendary winged helmet to combat wrongdoers in 1940’s FLASH COMICS #1! The FIRST APPEARANCE: THE FLASH ACTION FIGURE measures approximately 6 1/2" tall and features multiple points of articulation. It includes a base and a mini reproduction of the comic in which the character first appeared, and is packaged in a 4-color deluxe blister.


FIRST APPEARANCE: SHAZAM! ACTION FIGURE
Advance-solicited; in stores June 30, 2004. Since his debut in 1940’s WHIZ COMICS #2, young Billy Batson needs only to utter a single word — “Shazam!” — and he’s transformed into the super-powerful Captain Marvel. The FIRST APPEARANCE: SHAZAM! ACTION FIGURE measures approximately 6 1/2" tall and features multiple points of articulation. It includes a base and a mini reproduction of the comic in which the character first appeared, and is packaged in a 4-color deluxe blister.


FIRST APPEARANCE: WONDER WOMAN ACTION FIGURE
Advance-solicited; in stores June 30, 2004. Emerging from her native land of Themyscira to battle evil in 1941’s ALL STAR COMICS #8, the Amazon princess Wonder Woman has become one of comics’ best-recognized icons! The FIRST APPEARANCE: WONDER WOMAN ACTION FIGURE measures approximately 6 3/8" tall and features multiple points of articulation. It includes a base and a mini reproduction of the comic in which the character first appeared, and is packaged in a 4-color deluxe blister.

So I guess this is DC's response to Marvel Legends... They're gonna need to do way better than this to compete with ToyBiz... They even come with a comic book... HAHAHAHA!!!

It's not that the design of these figures suck. Cuz it's right on the money. Problem is, the original incarnation of the characters looks kinda lame. I know it was cool back then, but now it's just...cheesy in some ways.
