DC Direct have released new images and information concerning their upcoming First Appearance Action Figures, due out Summer 2004...
FIRST APPEARANCE: BATMAN ACTION FIGURE

Adopting a ghastly, bat-like costume designed to inspire fear in the hearts of the “weak, cowardly” criminal element of Gotham City, Bruce Wayne burst onto the comics scene as Batman in 1939’s DETECTIVE COMICS #27! The FIRST APPEARANCE: BATMAN ACTION FIGURE measures approximately 6 1/2" tall and features multiple points of articulation. It includes a base and a mini reproduction of the comic in which the character first appeared, and is packaged in a 4-color deluxe blister.

So I guess this is DC's response to Marvel Legends... They're gonna need to do way better than this to compete with ToyBiz... They even come with a comic book... HAHAHAHA!!!

It's not that the design of these figures suck. Cuz it's right on the money. Problem is, the original incarnation of the characters looks kinda lame. I know it was cool back then, but now it's just...cheesy in some ways.
