Here we are with another chapter of "Tales from the Rumor Mill" with some info that old school Star Wars fans will eat up...---------------------------------------------------------------------------
"Don't call it a comeback. The Ghost of Kenner Past has visited our Galactic Swami and reveals some terrific news. Although only a few details are available at this time, Swami sez that along with the Original Trilogy DVD release next year, older fans will be able to rekindle some fond memories from their childhood toy chest.
Hasbro is planning on releasing a special collector edition run of Vintage style action figures in conjunction with the highly anticipated release of the Holy Trilogy DVD release in 2004. While based on figures from that era, these new versions will sport additional articulation and come at a much higher pricepoint. We can expect some sort of retro style packaging as well.
That's all Swami has on these vintage re-issues for now. But if the success of Mattel's classic He-Man reissues are any indication, these neo-vintage figures should be hot.
Remember that nothing is confirmed until it comes from the mouth of Hasbro, but Swami will definitely have more news in the coming months!
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The Word from our Hasbro rep is "Other than what is on the website, we have not released 2004 plans." So, officially, mum's the word. Only time will tell!

| Does anyone know if the DVD trilogy will include the original theatrical versions in addition to the special additions from a few years ago. Cuz you can make that Death Star explode in any stupid CGI way you want, but Greedo did not shoot first. --B.W. |

haha - yes I agree. I loved the special editions - thought the extras were very good - EXCEPT that one bit. Han Solo was my hero through childhood for being hard and strong.....but making Greedo shoot first, ruined that image, and made Solo look inept!!! |

Giving credit where credit is due, since it wasn't posted in the actual news story. But this is word for word from Galactic Hunter's Star Wars site. :) http://www.galactichunter.com/absolutenm/anmviewer.asp?a=2100&z=2 |

From what I understand, Lucas is against releasing the original. There are numerous petitions online about it, Michael Crawford has one of them. I have to agree, the Greedo thing is terrible, not because it is different, but because it redefines Han's character. It takes his edge away, not to mention makes Greedo seem about as scary as dead ewok. |

Everybody knows, even the most avid fans, that Lucas has lost the touch. The new movies only entertain half way and the original trilogy was given some pretty rotten additions. The Greedo scene was bad but what really got me was that horrible Jabba the Hutt. I would have been happy if they would have said that he was another Hutt. He looked way to horrible. |

| I don't know if he has necessarily lost his touch, but I do think he is staying true to his vision. Unfortunately, with there being such a huge gap between Ep. 6 and Ep. 1, our own perceptions of what that vision should be took a life of its own, and simply put, it has nothing to do with HIS vision. The complaints would be almost nonexistant if he A) filmed them in order, or B) filmed Ep. 1 two years after Ep. 6. |

Lucas is such a money grubbing Beard! There are a couple of reasons why he is releasing the originals on DVD. A. He wants you to forget the "Special Editions" because he will redo them again with the Mega Editions! Containing added crap like Jimmy Organa Smits old screaming while being incinerated on Alderon. B. He got his a@# handed to him by Peter Jackson, with fan involvement, the movies kicked ass. And are being called the defining trilogy with the overkill of special effects. C. More loot and limelight. No matter what he stuffs in, reshoots he will never be able to cover the Bad acting and Dialogue of the prequels. Its so preschool. Plus all the sets look fake and lack life. That beard even charges you se to EP3 photos in hyperspace. What kind of bull is that. Anyone who pays is a fool and is responsible for buying him a new beard trimmer and flannel shirt. If Lucas wants to bring fans back throw the ewoks and JarJar on a planet and nuke it! |

Need to rephrase line B. B. He got his a@# handed to him by Peter Jackson, with fan involvement, the movies kicked ass. And are being called the defining trilogy WITHOUT the overkill of special effects. Beard! |

Honest to God. Lucas doesn't know what he is doing when it comes to the prequel stories. He is taking our god dammed money by giving us a half-assed product that we desperately try to cling on to in order to relive our childhoods. Don't get me wrong, I like characters like Jango, Darth Maul and Yoda's newfound ability to kick ass all the way to Endor buuuut... The movies feel incomplete and half-hearted. I have been an avid fan since I was a toddler and I cannot say how disappointed I am with Lucas. I have spent money on this bastard for years and now he tries to make me pay for his stupid Hyperspace service! It makes me made that George takes advantage of those fans that are enslaved by their appeal to Star Wars and pay for Hyperspace. I still buy Star Wars products but a lot less than I used to. I feel kind of dirty buying a product made by a guy that bluntly tries to take my money away. |

Again, I think everyone's opinion of Ep 1-3 would be totally different if they had come out before Ep. 4 or immediately after Return. While in some respects the prequels have been dissappointing, all in all they are good. However, when you sit in your parent's basement for almost 2 decades and drool over what the movies will be, there is no way they will meet you expectations. Simply put, dissappointed uberfans only have themselves to blame for having such high expectations. Look what happened with the Matrix. Everyone proclaimed it the best, most original movie ever (which it wasn't), then the next two come out and everyone (and by that I mean a majority of people who saw it, if you liked it, then your not in the majority so shut up) hates them. Everyone set the bar in their mind so high, dissappointment was the only possible result. The true test is to show all 6 movies to someone who has no contact with the series, like someone who is too young to know what it is up, and see if they like the first three. Us fans have way to much perspective and anticipation built up to not have bias. |
