NECA: UK TOYFAIR: 19" Lord of the Rings

We kick off with a look at the upcoming 19" Lord of the Rings figures, that NECA will be bringing your way in a couple of months time...

OK guys, It's home turf, and I'm going for broke here, and I'm laying down a photo war with Nomad...right here... right now. The photos are all ready to go up, and we have a LOT to show you. Of course there are some pictures I'm not happy with, due to trying to play around with the lighting...so if you want any reshoots of what we show tonight...ask!

I'm gonna kick off with an item a lot of you want to see, the upcoming 19" Lord of the Rings figures from NECA: Aragorn and Legolas.

These are due out in April and feature motion-activated sound...much like NECA's previous 18" figures (Hellraiser, Freddy etc.)

They look like statues but are nice and cost about $40 ouch

Legolas looks great, not so sure about Aragorns face, wish Viggo wasn't so scared of the old voodoo mojo. How poseable are these, if at all? They look somewhat statue-y.

Are NECA trying to steal the McFarlane statue making crown? They do look sort of nice but I don't think the head sculpts are 100% likeness wise. My one big question with this size of figure though is where are you going to display them? They would look tacky in the lounge and the office would not hold many of them surely?

Hm.

I was hoping for articulated figures. I am not too crazy about the sound feature. I never use it with my current figures.

I am kind of disappointed with these. I'll give them "A" for effort.

god forbid anyone to make a decent looking aragorn I won't be picking that up for 40 bucks not worth it to me, but Legolas is a must hope it has an arrow by then though

Since I wasn't going to collect these anyway, I'm not dissapointed. I just hope if they make a Balrog it's not in a dumb pose.

I knew NECA would turn into another McFarlane.

Actually this Aragorn is a little better than the others. These look really nice, especially Legolas (I assume he actually holds an arrow in his hand!).

But what I think we ALL really want to know is...has there been any mention of them making a Balrog in this size??

i will stick with Toy Biz...what exactly is with NECA they just make figures that other companies already made or dont want to do? they can call me when they do a Balrog.

I think Legolas looks pretty good. Aragorn on the other hand looks horrible. His face looks nothing like Viggo Mortensen and what happened to his eyebrows? I also think the prices for these figures are far over the edge, considering detail and the minimal or lack of articulation.
