Continuing our look at the ToyBiz Lord of the Rings figures, we turn our attention to the upcoming third assortment of The Two Towers...

THE TWO TOWERS ASST 3

Superposeable Helms Deep Aragorn

Isengard Orc with Axe

Superposeable Frodo

Boromir in Armor with Cloven Horn of Gondor

Gamling in Rohan Armor with Weapons

Superposeable Gollum with Squishy Fish

OK so I reckon some people might pass up some of the super-poseable figures but that orc, Boromir and Gamling are absolute must-haves.

The Two Towers Assortment 3 is due out in July 2004

Is it just me or does that look like the regular Helm's Deep Aragorn?

I'll be getting all of these, including several of the Orc. I will however pass on Gollum, since he's just a re-issue and Gamling, because he looks like shit. Really, he looks like he got the same voodoo treatment as Théoden in the beginning of The Two Towers. I am 100% sure they can do a far better job. Just look at the new Arwen figure's headsculpt and any of the Legolas figures released to date. For ToyBiz, i think this is not acceptable. They can do much better if they put some effort into it. What makes this figure even worse is the barely moveable and stiff jointed re-used Rohirrim body.

Oh yeah, baby. I have been waiting on this Orc to show up! Took his time but it'll be worth it to finally get a bunch of these to continue building my Orc army.

I think I'm not the only one out here building a dark horde, so if Toybiz was smart they'd put out a lot more Orcs (--like the much-missed and sadly unreleased Orc Brute, dammit!)

Out of the others Boromir is the only one that really interests me. There are already enough versions of the other characters (especially Aragorn).

Wow Isengard Orc, Armored Boromir, & Gamling are great figures IMO. I have seen different press images of Superposeable Frodo & Aragorn that look much better then these figures. I think the pics here are of the stand-ins, see for yourself…

At first I thought these were the 12” Roto-Cast versions, but they are not. I have Roto-Cast Aragorn and he has no elbow articulation, plus his right hand is different…

Frodo & Aragorn I can do without. I'd rather have new costume versions than super-poseable retoolings. Why not a SP Amon-Hen Aragorn or Council Aragorn? or SP Mt. Doom Frodo or Ceremonial Frodo?
Gollum I might buy, that's a nice sculpt. Hopefully they'll throw in a nice base to sweeten the deal.
Boromir is a must-have, although I'm disappointed he doesn't come with a Gondorian banner. Shouldn't the cloven horn come with Denethor?
And the Orc & Gamling have to be mine ASAP!
