We interrupt this non-stop Toyfair 2004 assault with some brand spankin' new images from Palisades, courtesy of Killertoys.com. We had a feeling Megacon would bring more...
And we were'nt dissapointed! Amid the tons of dealers sat lonely little Palisades, now king of the mountain! Yup, this show was pretty much all theirs, with practically no other toy comapnies to compete with.
Palisades will produce four series of Muppet figures throughout the year. As with past series, each released in 2004 will include a mix of main and fan-favorite characters. Also, for the first time since the line’s inception, the Muppet Babies characters will make their debut, as they appeared in the feature film, The Muppets Take Manhattan.
Additionally, there are plans for 2 new MEGA Muppets (Gonzo and Kermit), a deluxe Backstage playset, and two more series of the popular Mini Muppets. Plus expect some more surprises throughout the year!!
Although subject to change, the 2004 line-up is as follows:
First Quarter
Jim Henson’s Muppets Action Figures - Series 7
Kermit as Captain Smollett from Muppet Treasure Island
Frog Scout Robin
Johnny Fiama
Beauregard
MEGA Muppet – The Great Gonzo
Second Quarter
Jim Henson’s Muppets Action Figures - Series 8
Sam the Eagle from The Muppet Show
Usher Scooter from The Muppets Take Manhattan
Marvin Suggs and the Muppephones from The Muppet Show
Dr. Phil Van Neuter from Muppets Tonight
Mini Muppets – Wave 3
Kermit, Dr. Bunsen Honeydew, Beaker, Doglion, Scooter, and the Swedish Chef
Third Quarter
Jim Henson’s Muppets Action Figures - Series 9
Tuxedo Fozzie Bear from The Muppet Show
Pirate Gonzo and Rizzo 2-pack from Muppet Treasure Island
Pops from The Muppet Show
Lips from The Great Muppet Caper
Deluxe Backstage Playset with exclusive Rowlf figure
Fourth Quarter
Jim Henson’s Muppets Action Figures - Series 10
Rowlf as Dr. Bob from The Muppet Show skit “Veterinarian’s Hospital”
Muppet Babies Kermit and Miss Piggy 2-pack from The Muppets Take Manhattan
Uncle Deadly from The Muppet Show
Sal Manilla from Muppets Tonight
MEGA Muppet - Kermit the Frog
Mini Muppets - Wave 4
The Electric Mayhem Band set - Dr. Teeth, Animal, Janice, Floyd, Zoot, and Rowlf
All of these products will include the quality and attention to detail that you have come to expect from Palisades’ universe of Muppet product.
Shown below are Advernturer Kermit, the 2004 tour figure available at all conventions you see Palisades at. Next is Muppets Series 8 which includes Usher Scooter, Marvin Suggs and the Muppephones and Dr. Phil Van Neuter...plus Jim Henson. Lastly you'll find the ginormous Sweetums, coming in at around 10 inches tall. Yea, not gigantic, but in scale with all your little Muppets!

Sweetums looks great!
He was always one of my favorites, and I'm glad to see he's finally getting made. I hope his mouth & eyebrows move like Animal's does!
And I talked to the Palisades guys at Wizard World, and I think they said Jim Henson will be an exclusive to collector's club members.

This is a dream come true for me. My most wanted muppet character of all!
And especially THANK YOU for making in scale! This is gonna be perfect.
The next thing I'm hoping to see is that 2-headed monster from Sesame Street. And Telly Monster. He's cool.

They should give him a sound chip to say a couple of phrases (OK, monosyllables) too.
Oh, and I'd also like to see a nice BIG Snuffluphagus (sp?) -- with bendy trunk.

Oops, now that I think about it, it seems I can just vaguely remember that maybe it was some other other company and not Palisades that got the rights to Sesame Street. Or am I just hallucinating here?
I hope I am.
Somebody refresh my memory please...
