Mattel's convention exclusives got a lot of people excited this year, including myself. But they're both pretty dissapointing. First She-Ra has rooted hair and has been painted in the same colours as the old figure from the 80's (even though we were shown a far superior, sculpted hair prototype) and now Bruce Wayne Batman ends up Batman gripping his mask. It might have worked as a variant instead of mustard yellow and lime green Batmen, but for an exclusive it doesn't do much for me. Perhaps this is the last sad goodbye to what should have been two of the biggest toy lines around. If it is, then its a pretty dismal way to cap off two series which though both excellently sculpted have also been pretty dismal in their production, variety and availability. |

| I think this line will just queitly die this year. Mattel don't know what to do with it fairly obviousely, and the public haae now lost all interest. Shame really, but then again that is Mattel for you. |

| This line will fail as MOTU did most likely, and it will be Mattel's horrible marketing choices. Somedody over there needs to be fired. Seriously. |

Ok, this Batman sucks. It is a statue trying to be an action figure. Could you imagine playing with this Batman and a Joker? I hope to God almighty in the clouds above that Mattel goes bankrupt, re-emerges from the bankruptcy and get bought-out by Toy Biz, Hasbro or any company that would do action figures right. I think a memo should be passed on the entertainment industry that warns any company from doing action figure deals with Mattel. Once again, F*$% YOU MATTEL!!! F%^# YOU!!! |

WHAT in the.... Well, without much actual information, there isnt really much I can say but, nevertheless... WHAT THE...??? If the mask were indeed a latex component or some such that can be pulled backwards/removed, then that would be, well, a semi-decent variant. Not much of a kewl convention exclusive, but it'd be half-passable. Especially if the pose shown means that they've somehow added elbow articulation, or something that actually allows the arms to move into that position... Unfortunately, that looks like a bit of a long shot... On the other hand, if the entire setup were actually sculpted on... well, I must concur with all you guys... what a disastrous letdown indeed... For one, it doesnt really look that different at all from the original zipline batman, except that now it's stuck in a strange, and very, very unlikely pose... Needless to say, you're probably not going to have this guy fighting joker, freeze and croc with his mask half off... Anyways, I dont really get the logic behind this (IF there's any... maybe a big IF...)... Is this supposed to be a depiction of some specific scene? That scene in Hush maybe? Or... something? Or is this just some action-figure version of a snapshot of bats just before he turns in for the night... or... day... or... something? In any case, I'd hate to rag on a figure with this little info out, but the little info and pictures are already scaring the heck outta me... What were they thinking...? I remember the time when I was actually waiting with baited breath for mattel to finally release the zipline batman... THe first time I saw it, I was really, really blown away... As it is, the zipline batman probably still stands as one of the coolest, if not the coolest and most accurate action figure version of bats, but even now, the new Hush figure, with more articulation and all looks like it'll at least rival the zipline for this title... ... Still wishing for a Marvel Legends Style bats, though... Maybe we should go and petition ToyBiz... |

Seeing as how Toy Biz is owned by Marvel or vice-versa -- I never could figuret how that whole lawsuit thing shook out -- the chances of them getting the Batman toy license is about the same as me going out on a date with Jessica Simpson. Which is probably a good thing for all parties involved. Besides Jessica being just plain freaked out by this rapidly aging fanboy, both Nick and my wife would take turns kicking the holy livin' crap outta Ol' Guido. Heck, my wife is just as pretty as Jessica and a vastly superior conversationalist. Besides, she semi-tolerates my toy addiction -- who could ask for anything more? Oh yeah, a Marvel Legends style Batman! Oh, and so far as this con exclusive Bats is concerned, it is one Ol' Guido will gladly live without. A man needs two action figures like this con exclusive... one to crap on and another to cover it up with. Now where did I leave that bottle of Mylanta? |
