Majestic Studios: Zuni Fetish Warrior San Diego Exclusive

Majestic Studios updates us about their San Diego Exclusive which will take the form of an exclusive version of their upcoming Zuni Fetish Warrior figure...

At the 2004 San Diego Comic Con in July, MAJESTIC STUDIOS will unleash a figure never before seen off the TV or silver screen. From the vaults of ABC-TV’s film library, comes the replica of the ZUNI FETISH WARRIOR from the TRILOGY OF TERROR motion picture. This is an individually numbered, pre-release limited edition figure of only 500 pieces. The release of the regular version will be a month later, in August.

The highlights of the exclusive figure will be a differently designed cloth skirt and glow-in-the-dark features, including eyes and, most importantly, the teeth. The Zuni’s large razor like teeth are his most striking attribute and they will look even more sinister glowing in your darkened bedroom before you go to sleep.

The Warrior’s Journey -
Before “Ghoulies”, “Gremlins”, “Puppet Master”, “Troll”, “Child’s Play,” “The Bride of Chucky” and other little creature films, there was the Zuni Fetish Warrior created in 1975 by horrormeister Dan Curtis and famed sci-fi writer Richard Matheson.

Curtis is well known as the creator of ABC-TV’s “Dark Shadows” and “The Night Stalker.” Matheson is renown as the award-winning writer of “The Incredible Shrinking Man,” Steven Spielberg’s “Duel,” “The Legend of Hell House,” “I Am Legend” and the best “Twilight Zone” episodes ever.

Richard Matheson has been called "one of the most important writers of the 20th century" by Ray Bradbury, and his work has inspired many other notable authors. Stephen King cites Matheson as "the author who influenced me most as a writer."

“We’ve photographed the original 13-inch doll, which is on display at Dan Curtis’ Santa Monica, California offices, from every angle to make an exact likeness,” says Rick Phares, CEO of Majestic Studios. “Like the original, our figures will be inhabited by the spirit of a Zuni warrior, so don’t take that protective chain off their waist, if you know what’s good for you!”

In the motion picture, the diminutive warrior savagely attacks, Oscar nominated and 2 time Golden Globe winning actress, Karen Black’s character when she foolishly ignores the warning not to remove its waist chain. This results in a harrowing chase that those who have seen the film have not forgotten.

The Story of Trilogy of Terror –
Karen Black’s character, named Amelia, purchases the Zuni Fetish Warrior for her boyfriend who teaches Anthropology. It comes with a parchment warning of doom for the owner, if the protective chain is removed from its’ waist. Does she remove it? Of course, she does, and all Hell breaks loose within the tight confines of her apartment.

He stabs at her feet with a tiny knife, and whizzes around the room like a bat out of Hell while he growls and gnashes his teeth. Black runs from him like a track star and screams like she invented it. Though she manages to trap him in a suitcase, he cuts his way out before she tricks him into jumping inside the oven. But if you think cooking him alive is the end of the story you’d be wrong. Dead wrong.
