Jazwares: Jazwares' Street Fighter Line

You know about the SOTA line. You know all about the High Dream, Capcom Vs SNK 2 line. And now we have Jazwares' Mass Market Street Fighter line...

OK, so if these look mighty similar to SOTA's figures, theres a reason.... they share the same sculpt. The difference is that these are the Mass Produced versions... the one's you're gonna find in KB. SOTA's ones are the collector's grade.

Also, I hear you shout Akuma! or is that just me shouting Akuma to myself? Some are worried that this means that when a SOTA version is released it would just be a new head on a Ryu body. Jerry has said that a SOTA Akuma would be different.

Personally I love the Jazwares line and it fits into my overall Streetfighter Strategy. Basically I plan to get both the SOTA and High Dream's Capcom Vs SNK 2 line. Then this line will be used for my placeholders, so that I use both Ken and Akuma in my collection until such time as the SOTA ones are released.

Hopefully the Jazwares line will get the mass market crowd turned onto Street Fighter, which with 13 points of articulation, really isn;t too shabby at all.

are these KB exclusives or will they be at TRU and Wal-Mart as well? because the KayBee where I lived was one of the unlucky stores to get closed down and I wouldn't mind getting a few of these figures.

hmm less articulation and a different type of plastic in jazz
jazz figures look more shiney smooth.. Sotas are dull and have a "fleshier" tone.

So the third contender finally reveals itself. Not a bad line if you have a little brother or cousin or nephew who likes SF. It would be a nice substitute for them to play with if they start eyeing your highdream or SOTA figs.

I'll pick one of each once they are released. Release date is FAll 04? What month exactly?

Looks like cheaply made plastic to me. And they look ugly. Akuma looks alright(he's supposed to look ugly). Jazzware could have done something different. Perhaps different designs for the sculpts? Oh well. I hope SOTA will make their Akuma even better than these guys.

Now don't get me wrong about my comment above. I'm not saying these are terrible figures, I was just comparing them to what SOTA or Highdream could do. That's all. Hey at least their better than Toybiz' X-men vs Street Fighter line.

I admire you guys on your abilities to be polite about how ugly these things are. Sadly, I have always believed in being honest and don't like to sugar coat things. I also don't like to be an a**hole to any great extent, so I'll try my best to limit my feelings into a few words:

These figures make my stomach turn every time I look at them. Seven or eight bucks for those?...That's just madness.

These are the mass-market answer to SOTA and High-Dream - pure and simple.
Look at the price and compare that to the other lines - that may be a big issue to more casual collectors. They went with a different quality of plastic and reduced the production cost by re-tooling the sculpt to have fewer joints.

I want to pick up at least one of them, just to see how they compare. Plus it would make for an easy Ryu from KOF custom... where's my orange paint ;)

If these were the only street fighter figures on the market then yeah I would get into these. However these figures are being compared with other versions.

In my opinion I think jazware needs an edge in order to compete. Look at high dreams their angle on the topic is that they are involving SNK characters and probably that's the small advantage that will push them into the contender ring. I suggest that jazware does a pocket fighter version of the street fighter. (street fighter jr.) I would buy that. I think that would be cool. I know that resaurus ventured into this but I do not know if it was success. This is just my opinion. What do you guys think?

well I'd have to say out of Sota's figures, highdream's figures and these figures... these would be in last place. First of all the plastic looks like some bootleg company made them, there isn't much articulation and the scult is ugly. Ken has ugly hair and all three of their legs look like twigs wearing pants. even though these figures are a little easier to find than Sota's figure's I'm still sticking with Sota's because at least their figures doesn't look cheap!
