Nomad takes a look at a TV / Toy property you're not going to see for another 2 years, but looks like it could be big: Dragon Booster...

You’ve been screaming for a property that will bring giant dragons to toy stores everywhere? This is it. Kevin Mowrer and Rob Travalino, principals of The Story Hat (an entertainment development company) have created a new boys-action property and television show called Dragon Booster.

Kevin and Rob have over 30 years of combined experience developing kids entertainment, toys, products, games, and advertising, for many of the last few decades biggest kid-hits (Batman, J-Park, Aliens, Star Wars and more). They have put all that experience into The Story Hat and their first property out the door, Dragon Booster. The Story Hat's partners on Dragon Booster are Alliance Atlantis; a large Toronto-based Television and Motion Picture production and distribution company.

The story takes place in the near future in a technologically equivalent world to ours except here, in mile-high Dragon City, there are no cars, trucks, busses, or fossil fuel of any kind. Dinosaurs like creatures never died out, and over the millennia, have been subjugated by man into transportation and 200 MPH specialized high speed racing and battling reptiles.

These “Dragons”, as they are now called by the racing marketers, are as smart as humans and have been bred into specialized forms and colors with different abilities that have resulted from the humans breeding programs. In dragon city, racing and battling is an obsession from the elite class pro-race track, to the all city racing bush leagues, and even deep in Dragon City’s underbelly where the dragon stealing “street-crews” race and battle in dangerous grudge matches like grand theft dragon.

The world is unknowingly on the brink of a dragon uprising with an evil and powerful genius working to set it off. An ancient legend in the form of a gold dragon (a dragon with the potential for all the abilities of the other colors) is born into a racing stable and chooses an unlikely rider named Artha Penn to be his rider/hero.

The street crews try to steal this amazing dragon and cause a disaster that throws Artha, Beau, his younger brother, and their best friend Parmon, deep into the dangerous crew-controlled underbelly of the city to escape and hide. Artha must now learn to race and win gear, money, and standings to make a living, while learning and perfecting his unwanted role as part of a dragon/human hero team that must face and defeat the various crew leaders and villains who are in a race to find the ancient bone-marks of power to evolve their dragons and themselves into massively powerful caricatures of their dragon’s power colors. These Bone marks lie hidden throughout the mile high dragon city and can make any character/dragon combination into a contender for world domination!

Dragon/Rider Facts:
1. At birth, a dragon’s colors and markings are set so you can order one with racing stripes, a flame job, logo’s, or even corporate sponsorships on it. Killer graphics and big reptiles! This ain’t no Jurassic Park!
2. Racing dragons can run at 200MPH but not for marathon distances.
3. Riders and their hi-tech riding suits, must be magnetically attached to their dragon or the wind turbulence will tear them off (in installments)
4. Dragons need specialized hi-tech gear to compete in the different kinds of races and battles.
5. Dragon’s bones are made of a metal like substance that is all but unbreakable and can conduct energy.
6. Specialized breeding has made the colors of the bone specialized creating different powers such as :

Red dragons can store heat

White dragons are agile and can glide

This project has so many fantastic possibilities! Unfortunately, you’re not going to see anything until 2005. I can promise we’ll be bringing you news as it develops.

JAKKS is currently in pre-production on this, and without giving anything away, all we can say is that JAKKS is planning to introduce new innovation to this toy line that should get you doing a happy dance. The show itself is slated to air in the winter of 2005.

I don't know. It looks to me like more modern animation, but essentially just a saturday morning cartoon. And that's cool. I'll check it out.

I don't like Yu Gi Oh or Pokemon, but this didn't stop them being massive properties.

I think this has got the right elements to be the next big Kids thing. I guess it depends on how good the cartoon is. I think that will be the thing that hooks the kids if anything.

But defintiely it has a LOT of potential

Sounds cool. This concept is unique yet similar enough to keep it from being over looked.

I like 100% original concepts but as long as somethings quality made, I'm not too picky.

Kids are the bulk of the toy industry and kids should love this. Sure parents buy for them but kids decide what they want.
