LEGO Company Reveals New Chapters in BIONICLE™ Legend, Introduces Six New Rivals for the Mighty Toa

--If You Wake One, You Wake Them All--

The island of Mata Nui was a fantasy paradise until a dark shadow—named Makuta—fell over the land. The islanders put their faith in a legend that foresaw the arrival of six mighty heroes who would restore peace. Fulfilling their destiny, the heroes, called Toa, overcame many challenges, collected the lost Kanohi Masks of Power and obtained the skill and knowledge needed to defeat Makuta, bringing an end to the darkness. The Toa, however, in their defeat of Makuta, have awakened a force unlike any they've encountered before.

Thus, the BIONICLE™ legend, as told by the LEGO Company, continues with a new line of collectible creatures, called Bohrok, for children ages 7 and up. The Bohrok are insect-like creatures from each of the six different worlds of Mata Nui, who, in swarms, are out to destroy the landscape of the island. The Bohrok's power lies inside their heads in the form of "Krana" brains. Only by collecting the full set of Krana will the Toa unlock the necessary means to defeat the swarms.

The BIONICLE legend is based on the concept of quick-build, lower-priced collectible figures with distinct personalities. Like their Toa predecessors, the six species of Bohrok insects can be collected, built, combined and re-built and have a suggested retail price of $7.99 US and $9.99 CN. Each species represents a different natural element: Nuhvok - Earth, Pahrok - Stone, Kohrak - Ice, Tahnok - Fire, Lehvak - Air and Gahlok – Water. Six smaller Bohrok-Va scouts also will be available. Each of the Bohrok and Bohrok-Va have eight different Krana brains to collect to complete their swarms – 96 in total – that are randomly packed in twos ($1.99 US, $2.99 CN). Additional new toys will launch in the middle and later portions of 2002.

After its release in the summer of 2001, BIONICLE quickly made its way to being one of the top-selling toys in the industry and a craze among children around the world.

In addition, BIONICLE has revolutionized the way children think of and play with LEGO toys. BIONICLE translates traditional LEGO® values of creativity, imagination and construction, delivering a unique and exciting play experience in a story-driven universe, unlike any other in the Company's history or the industry at large.
